If you’re like most people, you probably use your voice to control your devices. Whether it’s asking Alexa to turn on the lights or setting a timer, using your voice is convenient and easy. But what if you want to keep your conversation private? Alexa has a new whisper mode that lets you talk quietly without having to raise your voice. To use it, just say “Alexa, enable whisper” followed by the topic of conversation. For example, if you wanted to ask Alexa about the weather forecast for tomorrow, you would say “Alexa, enable whisper weather tomorrow.” Whisper mode is great for when you want to keep your conversation private or if the person you’re talking to doesn’t have an Echo device. Plus, it’s a great way to conserve battery life since whispering uses less energy than speaking normally. So next time you need to keep a secret or want to save energy, try using Alexa’s new whisper mode! ..

When enabled, Alexa will be able to detect when you’re whispering, and when she responds, she’ll whisper back instead of talking at her normal volume. It’s certainly better than her shouting responses at full normal volume when you’re trying to keep it quiet in a sleeping household.

There are a couple of ways to enable this feature:

Open up the Alexa app on your phone and navigate to Settings > Alexa Account > Alexa Voice Responses > Whispered Responses. Simply say “Alexa, turn on whisper mode. ”

Once you have it up and running, Alexa will automatically whisper responses back to you, depending on if you’re whispering or not. Even in brief mode, the “ding” chime will ring at a lower volume. Pretty neat!
