If you own a Samsung Galaxy phone, you’re likely familiar with the shutter button. But if you don’t, here’s how to move it on your device:
- Open the Settings app and scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap on the General tab.
- Scroll down to the Shutter Button section and change its position from “Up” to “Down.”
- Tap on OK to close the Settings app and return to your phone’s main screen.
Here’s the situation: You’re trying to take a selfie with a bunch of people. In order to get everyone in the shot, you have to hold your phone in an awkward position. You can’t reach the shutter button to snap the photo. What can you do? We’ll show you how to simply move the shutter button.

First, open the camera app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Next, tap the gear icon in the top toolbar to open the Settings.
Scroll down and select “Shooting Methods.”
Toggle the switch on for “Floating Shutter Button.”
Now go back to the camera. You’ll see a white circle floating on the screen, this is the new shutter button. You can drag it wherever you’d like and tap it to snap a photo, just like the regular shutter button—which also still works.
This is a nifty feature for those awkward moments where you can’t quite hold the phone in the perfect position. You don’t have to reach your fingers in awkward positions to snap a photo anymore. Another one of Samsung’s many features included on Galaxy devices.
